With their biting rat mascots at the front of the stage, the Emsland band Riot At The Moonshine Bar put on a convincing performance. Especially the varied guitar work with the effect devices and the singer's incredibly high vocals were outstanding. I wondered why I hadn't noticed this band before, and I'm sure some of the concertgoers felt the same way.

Although Germany is producing fewer great hard rock bands than it used to, the style remains firmly anchored in its musical heritage and RIOT AT THE MOONSHINE BAR confirms this richness. For their first EP, the quintet from the north of the country have done everything right, and the production created by Jörg Seeman (their live sound engineer) is perfectly on track, adding sparkle and freshness to the six songs. Instinctive and melodic, the Teutons deliver a hard rock that is classic but inspired, dynamic and resounding. Far from denying their influences from the 70s and 80s, the band really bring them up to date thanks to a resolutely modern tonality and are able to unite both fans of old-school hard rock and the younger ones. RIOT AT THE MOONSHINE BAR are characterized by their direct, soulful compositions.
